2008 sees Aldenham School running children's non-residential holidays for its 27th year. Camp Aldenham operates for two weeks at Easter and five weeks in the Summer. We take children aged between 3 and 14 onto our main Camp. Camp Aldenham caters for approximately 200 children each day, with bookings being taken on a weekly, daily or half daily basis.
We are currently recruiting staff to supervise and help organise children on the wide variety of activities shown on our website. This type of work would most suit trainee teachers and college or university students. In particular, we would encourage applications from those people with specific qualifications and experience in any of the specialist activities highlighted overleaf. Those people looking for more general experience in working with children in a relaxed and friendly environment will also find this type of work particularly rewarding. As there is no staff accommodation available, we would prefer to recruit people living within a 20-mile radius of the School, who reside at home and have their own transport.
Appointed staff will need to enjoy working as part of a large team, organising activities and ensuring the care and safety of the children under their control. The Camp is situated in the School's 100 acre plus grounds, with outstanding facilities including a magnificent Sports' Centre, purpose built Art and Computer blocks, together with a floodlit all-weather artificial turf pitch and hard tennis courts. Each day you will be provided with refreshments mid-morning and afternoon, but you will be required, like the children, to provide your own packed lunch. The work that you will be required to do is very rewarding, and it can also be very tiring. All staff are expected to be at Camp no later than 8.50am in preparation for the arrival of the children. Staff are usually free to leave site by 4.00pm, unless required to act as an Extended Day Monitor (see overleaf), in which case an earlier start and later finish should be anticipated. Staff are issued free Camp Aldenham polo shirts, which they must wear. Prior to starting work with us, you will be issued with a set of Staff Guidelines, which you are expected to read prior to Orientation Day. All pay scales detailed in this document are given as gross figures and include holiday pay.
